週末は生徒たちはホストファミリーと思い思いに過ごしました。家でのんびりしたり、買い物に行ったり、スキーに行ったりと家族との絆が深まったことと思います。

本日はSJAの公式サイトに掲載されたロベット校長先生のウィークリーメッセージの中で海城の研修について言及されている箇所をご紹介します。同じメッセージは地元の新聞にも掲載されました。「この研修は世界中で学びが広がると、地球上に平和が広がることを教えてくれる」と称賛のお言葉を寄せて下さっています。

Monday: Our guests from Tokyo—30 students and two teachers from Kaijo Gakuen High School—arrived. This program, which is now over 25 years old, has brought over 600 young people from one of Japan’s finest secondary schools to stay with host families and visit our classrooms for a week. In addition, they play a basketball game against Academy students, put on a cultural display in our library, and their teachers teach in our Japanese classes. Their visit is always marked by graciousness, sincere attempts at mutual understanding, and the development of long-lasting friendships. I always say that this program teaches lessons that, if learned throughout the world, would do much to bring peace to our planet.

また毎朝行われているチャペル（朝礼）が開かれる講堂には研修中本校の生徒の氏名が書かれた半紙が掲示され歓迎ムードを出しています。達筆な書は誰が書いたのだろうかと思っていたのですが、その謎が解けました。やはりSJAの公式サイトをチェックすると、日本人の留学生が事前に用意してくれている画像が見つかりました。初日にキャンパスツアーも担当してくれた女子生徒によるものでした。
